What conditions can Traditional Acupuncture treat?

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine tailors its treatment to the individual patient. It makes diagnosis of your health on its own terms.

Scientific equipment means we can measure aspects of the body never thought of just a few hundred years ago and have brought us medical descriptions that would have been meaningless to traditional Chinese culture. For example, even today high blood pressure is identified mainly because it can be measured; many people have no symptoms. Traditional acupuncture therefore does not talk in terms of modern disease labels. The acupuncturist's diagnosis is based upon meeting the patient, asking about their health, interpreting physical signs and symptoms and using the traditional models upon which acupuncture points prescriptions are based.

Because traditional acupuncture aims to treat the whole person rather than specific symptoms in isolation, it can be effective for a range of conditions. This approach also means that each patient’s treatment plan will be different. However, you can always ask your practitioner about other patients’ experiences, to give you an idea of what to expect.

TCM focuses on you personally, interpreting your ailments in reference to your health; it treats the person not a medical label.
